Rust has a huge community, and, unfortunately, the built-in server list is not enough for some people. The built-in server list lacks many options such as kits, pve, mods, and more. Now that the game is in the community’s hands, they can mod it to their hearts content. But with if I don’t like default and want to fly planes or something with other players. How would I find people who would want to play with me? That is where this guide to Rust server lists comes in. This guide will show some of the popular Rust server lists, listing the pros and cons of each.
Other Rust server lists pales in comparison to Top Rust Servers in many ways. First of all, Top Rust Servers has over 1600 pages of servers, with 10 on each page. Top Rust Servers also has a Tumblr blog, updating you on the current status of the website and future updates. Top Rust Servers also owns rustmap.net, a website with a map of the Rust Island. The map includes town/loot spots, area names, grids, pictures, and area colors.
Top Rust Servers website design is also quite stylish. It has a white background with a cool black tab menu at the top. At the top right you can search for a server by name and IP. In the top right corner is also a server filter where you can choose between over 30 options to find the server that’s right for you. All in all, Top Rust Servers is a big step up from the previous server list.
Second on our list of Rust server lists is Top G. Top G only has over 1100 servers, a decent amount of servers thus far. Top G has many more options than Top Rust Servers though. You can sort by over 45 types of servers, over 50 countries, and player count. Of course, there is also the normal server name search option if you forget the IP for your favorite server.
Top G also has ranks their servers based on votes. This system is supposed to be able to bring popular good servers to the top while keeping bad servers at the bottom. This system is hindered however with new, unpopular servers that can be very good that are lower on the list. Being a Minecraft server owner a few years back, I do not like this system. You can also pay to advertise your server at the top of this list or as a side banner. Other than my rant on ranked servers, there is a FAQ, Contact, Advertising, and a Voting Check page. The web design is solid at best.
/r/PlayRustServers subreddit has a nice looking stylesheet that is very pleasing to the eye. Reddit allows people to “upvote” and “downvote” posts as a way to rank servers, a great method of voting compared to the other sites. The difference between /r/PlayRustServers and Top G is that Reddit moves servers down the list after a period of time, so servers with lots of upvotes will not stay at the top forever.
If you wanted to view servers ranked by upvotes, there is a tab menu that allows you to sort based on new, rising, controversial, top, and gilded. The tTop button in particular allows you to sort by the top upvoted servers from all time, past 24 hours, past week, past month, and past year, with the New option sorting by newly posted servers.
